CHILD PROTECTION INFORMATION
This program (called VIRTUS) is applied across the entire Archdiocese for all adult volunteers that work with children. To attend training pre-registration is required; go to www.virtus.org to register. Per the Archdiocese, walk-ins cannot complete training. The schedule for all locations is online at www.virtus.org. This policy applies to coaches, all scouting volunteers, babysitters, catechists, assistant coaches, assistant catechists, and ALL ADULTS who work with children and teens. NOTE: New volunteers will NOT be permitted to work with our children at all until this training, a background check, and approval process is COMPLETE.
IMPORTANT: Because of the content of the videos shown at this training, children under 18 are not permitted to attend and childcare is not available. Please plan accordingly.
Background Checks
Everyone MUST have new background checks done – either electronically and / or through fingerprinting every five years. Because your background is being checked electronically on a quarterly basis, you are now able to volunteer / work anywhere within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Go to www.virtus.org to complete a background check. Changing or adding locations will not impact your requirements once you’ve completed a background check.
It is your responsibility, to make sure your contact information is current and the list of locations in your VIRTUS account is current. You can add and delete locations by going to the Toolbox tab of VIRTUS and click Update my account.
If you are a volunteer, volunteers will be able to click on the toolbox tab within VIRTUS to initiate the background check with SELECTiON.COM. See the PDF below for instructions.
Volunteers no longer need to be fingerprinted. A background check through SELECTiON.com and VIRTUS training is all that is required.
